Rise of the machines?

If you’re really interested in doing paranormal field research and desire to utilize electronic instrumentation to supplement your observations and questions of the tenants (if any), please make sure you know what type of instruments you’re buying before you lay out cold, hard cash.

It’s really important for everyone to realize that no one can measure a ghost, because we do not really know what a ghost is.  You cannot measure what you do not know.  All we’re able to measure are those forces we’re already familiar with such as electromagnetism, strong and weak nuclear forces and gravity.

At this point in time, we can only determine how said phenomena in relation to ourselves, are affecting the aforementioned forces. Or, more likely, how changes in the localized geomagnetic and electromagnetic field dynamics relate to the manifestation of certain types of paranormal phenomena.  Proper, engineering grade instrumentation is very, very expensive.  So before you buy anything be sure to understand what it is your purchasing, precisely what it measures, how it is to be used and how such measurements will provide answers in the paranormal equation.

In my book Aliens Above, Ghosts Below: Explorations of the Unknown, I get into some detail regarding what instruments are relevant, their cost and where they might be purchased.

In parapsychology, hard facts only arrive by conducting methodological research over time in search of longitudinal data patterns.  To expect anything else, is pure nonsense and entertainment.  During the course of my own research over the last forty-three years I have seen demonstrable patterns in the answers to questions we pose as well as to what instrumented measurements indicate.  This has taken many decades and a dedicated effort to be as objective as possible.  Before we assume that something is paranormal in nature, we must rule out virtually everything else, literally.
